Auto Accident with Entrapment

Wednesday, March 19th, 2014 at 0930 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company, Ambulance 8 and Medic 94 were alerted for an auto accident with entrapment on Gum Tree Road in the area of Friends Meetinghouse Road in Highland Township. The caller reported that there was two vehicles, one of which was into a barn with possible entrapment. Due to additional information of heavy entrapment in a pick-up truck, a helicopter was placed on standby. Engine 27-1 responded at 0939 hours. Due to a shortage in personnel and the additional information, they requested that an additional Rescue be called to the scene. Rescue 8 from the Keystone Valley Fire Department was alerted to respond to the scene. Engine 27-1 and Rescue 27 arrived on scene with one patient with their legs pinned in the pick-up. Extrication on the patient was complete within five minutes and the helicopter was told to stand down. Ambulance 8 and Medic 94-1 transported one patient to Lancaster General Hospital.
