House Fire - Keller Road

At 1148 the Cochranville Fire Company, along with the West Grove Fire Company and a Tanker from the Avondale Fire Company, were dispatched to the 20 block of Keller Road for a house fire. Engine 27-2 went en-route at 1155 with a crew of four followed by Engine 27-5 and apparatus from the West Grove and Avondale Fire Companies. Chief 27 arrived on the scene and advised that smoke was coming from the eaves of a two-story log cabin. Engine 27-2 laid 5" hose down the driveway and its crew proceeded to enter the dwelling with a 1.75" handline and hand tools. The fire was confined to a space between the ceiling and roof surrounding the smokestack of a wood burning stove. This area was opened up with the assistance of a crew from West Grove Fire Company's Ladder and the fire was knocked down by Engine 27-2's crew. The area surrounding the fire was opened up to check for extension and to verify that the fire was fully suppressed. Once it was determined that the fire was completely extinguished, with no chance of relighting, operations were wrapped up and apparatus returned to their stations. All units went available at 1250.
