Hay Bale Fire in - West Marlborough Township

On Saturday, September 14th at 1407 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company was alerted for Rescue 27 (Rapid Intervention) to assist on a barn fire in the West Marlborough Township section of the Avondale Fire Company (Station 23) local. Rescue 27 (Drennen) made the response at 1417 with a crew of six. Assistant 23 was advised that Past Chief Decker was on the scene with a large hay pile (1000 bales) requesting additional tankers. Engine 27-5 was added with the 1st alarm tanker task force. Engine 27-5 (Linnenbaugh) made the response at 1421. The units arrived on scene with the rescue crew being added to the manpower pull shortly after setting up for RIT. Chief 27 (Drennen) assumed water supply officer duties. Seeing the need for additional engines, Engineer Burkhart was sent back to bring Engine 27-1, which was used at the Bowling Green Inn fill site. Crews worked for several hours and aided in the movement of over 450,000 gallons of water. All 27 units cleared the scene at 2310.
