Fatal Accident in - Londonderry Township

Wednesday, January 30th, 2013 at 1433 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company, an Engine and Ambulance from the West Grove Fire Company and Medic 94 were alerted for an auto accident reported serious at the intersection of Route 41 and Fernwood Road in Londonderry Township. Chester County Fire Board received numerous calls and reported it was a two vehicle accident with ejection. Engine 27-1 responded with five at 1439 and arrived on scene at 1442 along with Medic 94-2. Engine 27-1 confirmed the report, set up "Route 41 Command" and requested the coroner to the scene. Crews from Rescue 27, Engine 27-1 and Rescue 22 assisted with patient care and traffic control, while fire police from other companies in the area were alerted to assist. One patient was transported to Lancaster General Hospital via Ambulance 22-1 with Medic 94-2 on board. After Pennsylvania State Police finished with their investigation, Null's Towing removed the vehicles and cleaned up the debris. All units were able to open the roadway and return available by 1700.
