Accident with Entrapment - Atglen Borough

Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at 1034 hours, the Atglen Fire Company, Cochranville Fire Company's Rescue 27 and Ambulance 5-2-1 were dispatched to an accident reported serious on Swan Road South of Strasburg Road in West Sadsbury Township. Deputy 28 (Cazillo), found that the two vehicle accident did have entrapment and that it was actually located in Atglen Borough. Due to this change, Christiana Fire Company (Lancaster County) was dispatched for an Engine and Gap Fire Company for their Rescue. Rescue 27 responded with a crew of eight and arrived on scene after Engine 26-3. The rescue crew started gathering tools and equipment to extricate the patient. It was determined by medical personnel on scene that it would be best to remove the roof. All four posts of the truck were cut, the roof was removed and the patient was safely extricated and transported to Lancaster General Hospital. After all equipment was cleaned up and ready for the next time, Rescue 27 returned available. Units: Rescue 27
