Automatic Fire Alarm Saves Residence - 100 Block of Center Hall Road

Thursday, February 24th, 2011, at 1314 hours the Cochranville Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm on the 100 block of Center Hall Road in Upper Oxford Township. Engine 27-2 responded with four at 1321 hours. Assistant Chief Hoopes arrived on scene at 1323 hours to find a single family dwelling with nothing showing from the exterior.  Engine 27-2 arrived on scene at 1326. No one was home except for the family dog and the engine crew was not able to gain entry into the residence.  Once the key holder arrived at 1338, they let the engine crew inside.  They then found a smoke condition filling up the residence.  After a quick investigation, the crews found a small fire in a tool room in the basement.  The engine crew put out the fire with a water extinguisher and proceeded to ventilate the house.  Engine 27-2 cleared the scene at 1421 hours Units: Engine 27-2
