Hazardous Materials Incident on the Route 30 Bypass - Route 30 Bypass

On Saturday, January 29th, 2011 at 0359 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company’s Containment Unit was alerted along with the fire police task force to assist the Westwood Fire Company on the Route 30 Bypass Westbound just West of Route 82 for a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor trailer leaking diesel fuel. QRS and Containment 27 responded at 0423 with a crew of four and arrived on scene at 0450. Utility 27 responded to Business Route 30 and Airport Road to assist with traffic control. The crew from the containment unit put booms and peat moss around the fuel spill to keep the fuel from spreading further. They also assisted the Chester County HazMat team with any of their needs. After no longer being needed, QRS and Containment 27 returned available at 0656 hours. The Utility along with other fire police units were unable to clear the scene until around lunch time.
