Passing of Longwood Firefighter James McGovern - Chester County
Saturday, November 13, 2010
The Longwood Fire Company regretfully announces the passing of Firefighter James McGovern. Firefighter McGovern has been an active member of the Longwood Fire Company since 2008 and has been a top responded ever since. He graduated from The University of Delaware with a degree in Chemical Engineering and quickly became an asset to the fire company with the knowledge he obtained in school. Jim always had a smile on his face and was always positive in the darkest of circumstances. He was a model firefighter, always wanting to learn more and improve his service to the community. He set an example that every firefighter should strive to achieve. The Longwood Fire Company and the fire service as a whole has lost a valuable asset and he will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at the Red Clay Room in Kennett Square. Doors will open at 1000hrs with the service beginning at 1100hrs on Friday. The officers and members of The Cochranville Fire Company would like to send our thoughts and prayers to the family, friends, and fellow brothers and sisters of The Longwood Fire Company.
