Automatic Fire Alarm at Octorara High School - 200 Block of Highland Road

Monday, September 27th, 2010 at 1917 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company was alerted for an automatic fire alarm at the Octorara High School on Highland Road in West Fallowfield Township. Engine 27-1 responded at 1920 hours with a crew of four. Engine 27-1 arrived on scene at 1925 hours with nothing showing from the exterior. The engine crew was met at the door by an employee who said that two kilns in the art area were left on and overheated the room causing the fire alarm to go off. After investigating, the crew started the ventilation process. The temperature of the room and contents upon our arrival was over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Once the room and contents were down to about 90 degrees, the situation was turned over to a maintenance worker to continue ventilation. Engine 27-1 returned available at 2041 hours.
