Tractor Trailer Accident - Route 41 South of Walter Road

On our way back to the station after the haybale fire on Highland Road, at 1125 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company and an Ambulance from the Avondale Fire Company were alerted for an accident with injuries on Route 41 South of Route 796 in Londonderry Township. Engine 27-1 and Chief Hoopes responded immediately, while Engine 27-5 responded back to the station to pick up Rescue 27. Chester County Fire Board advised units that a tractor trailer was leaking fuel after hitting several tree branches. Engine 27-1 arrived on scene at Route 41 South of Walter Road which is in London Grove Township. Due to the location, the West Grove Fire Company was called to the scene. Ambulance 23-2 arrived on scene to check out the driver. Due to heavy traffic, a first and second alarm fire police task force were alerted. This requested fire police from the West Grove, Cochranville, Avondale, Oxford, Po-Mar-Lin, Kennett, Longwood and Parkesburg Fire Companies. Containment 27 was also alerted to respond to the scene due to the fuel spill. The engine crew contained the fuel spill. The Null's Towing Incident Response Unit was called to the scene along with their tow trucks. Once Null's arrived on scene, they pumped the remaining fuel out of the tank. By then Chief 22 arrived on scene and took over command. 27 units were no longer needed on scene and all returned available by 1302 hours.
