Members complete Emergency Vehicle Driver Training
Sunday, November 24, 2013

As the first real cold snap hit the area, members of Cochranville Fire Co. assembled to complete their Emergency Vehicle Drivers Training. The Sunday morning started with temperatures in the 20’s; not what we thought we would have when the training class was scheduled a couple months ago. Set up was completed braving the winds of the Highland ridge, as most from the area know, is always windy. Once the course set up was completed, the participating members arrived at the driving grounds. Crews were walked through the course and all safety / ground rules established. Starting with Utility 27, driver trainees completed the task. Helping to maintain availability of units for emergencies, the apparatus used were shuttled back and forth from the station. This allowed for only one unit to be tied up at a time and that unit was staffed by the participants of the class if needed for an emergency. All participants did an excellent job completing the class. They are the next generation of emergency drivers taking their first steps to becoming qualified. A special thank you goes to Engineer Calder for providing the apparatus shuttle and to Westwood Fire Co. for the additional safety cones to make this training a success.
