Pole Fire and AFA - Highland Road

Thursday, April 28th, 2011, the Cochranville Fire Company was alerted at 1200 hours for a pole on fire at Highland Road and Lenover Road in Highland Township. Engine 27-2 responded with four at 1207. Before arriving on scene, Chester County Fire Board advised the engine that there was another call for power lines on fire at Highland Road and Route 41 in West Fallowfield Township. Utility 27 responded at 1218 hours to assist with traffic control. Engine 27-2 arrived on scene at Highland Road between Lenover Road and Route 41 to find a pole on fire and ready to collapse. They also found that both calls were one in the same. The engine and utility closed down the roadway. At 1237 hours, Chester County Fire Board advised the engine that there was another call. This time it was for an automatic fire alarm at the Octorara High School. Engine 27-2 responded and arrived on scene to find that the school had not be evacuated. The alarm was set off due to the pole fire which caused a power outage in the area. Engine 27-2 cleared this call and returned back to the pole fire. Engine 27-2 returned to the station at 1315 hours. Members then placed a generator at the traffic light at Highland Road and Route 41 until the power was back on.
