Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on Route 10 - Route 10 North of Friendship Church Road

On Thursday, April 1st, 2010 at 2020 hours, the Cochranville Fire Company, Parkesburg Fire Company Ambulance and Lancaster County Medic 7-7-9 in place of Medic 93 were alerted for a motor vehicle crash reported with fire on Route 10 North of Friendship Church Road in Highland Township. Chief Lapp responded at 2024 hours followed by Engine 27-1 with a crew of five at 2026 hours. Parkesburg Ambulance and Medic 93-2 responded at 2027. It was requested that a helicopter be placed on standby due to one patient being removed from a burning vehicle with CPR in progress. It was determined that Pennstar 2 would be the helicopter coming to the scene. Chief Lapp arrived on scene at 2028 hours and reported that there was one vehicle versus a tractor trailer. The vehicle was on fire and was very close to a barn. At that time he requested an engine from the Parkesburg Fire Company to come to the scene. Chief Lapp assumed "Limestone Road Command" at 2030 hours. When Engine 27-1 arrived on scene, part of the crew extinguished the vehicle fire while the others assisted with CPR. Engine 28 responded at 2031. At 2036 hours Limestone Road Command requested the first alarm fire police task force. That included fire police from Cochranville, Parkesburg, Atglen, Christiana, Gap, Bart, and Westwood. Medic 93-2 arrived on scene at 2038 and cancelled Pennstar 2. Hazmat 15, the county coroner, a county Fire Marshal and Ambulance 5-2-1 were also called to the scene. Last remaining units cleared the scene at 0041 hours on April 2nd, 2010.
